° STONES Limestone: This is a rock consisting mainly of calcium carbonate, chemical precipitation caused by the action of marine organisms and the accumulation of calcareous shells of plants or animals.

When it is very pure, it looks white, but usually appears tarnished by a large number of impurities, particularly clay and silica and to a lesser extent, with a large number of minerals. This means that, beyond the white base, has a variety of colors.

The limestone is used in a wide range of products from cement, construction, and fluxes in the steel industry and for the extraction of lime. Read the rest of this entry »
